2011 VW Tiguan Reviews

The VW Tiguan's interior is a welcome departure from the plastic-trimmed cabin of the typical compact crossover. Even the VW Tiguan's road manners achieve a certain level of sophistication. The "VW Tiguan" styling cues place it somewhere between the larger VW Touareg SUV and smaller VW Golf hatchback. At the same time, the 2011 VW Tiguan comes up slightly short in terms of space and utility.

The 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan is a compact crossover SUV available in S, SE and SEL trim levels.
The SE adds 17-inch wheels, additional chrome exterior trim, foglights, a roof rack, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel, heated washer nozzles, a power-adjustable driver seat, heated front seats, leatherette vinyl upholstery, a trip computer, a roof storage console and an upgraded touchscreen stereo with satellite radio and an iPod interface. The SEL 4Motion with Premium Navigation and Dynaudio option rounds off the Tiguan with all-wheel drive and an eight-speaker premium Dynaudio sound system. Options for all VW Tiguan models include a trailer hitch, side steps, a ground-effects kit of body pieces and 19-inch wheels.

The 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 that produces 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. All trim levels come standard with front-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is optional on the SE and SEL.

Standard equipment on the VW Tiguan includes antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags.

the all-wheel-drive Tiguan 4Motion came to a stop from 60 mph in 126 feet -- an average performance. In government crash testing, the 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan was awarded a perfect five stars in all front and side crash categories.

With the rear seats positioned as far forward as they'll go, the VW Tiguan can accommodate 23.8 cubic feet of cargo.

The 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan ranks 3 out of 24 Affordable Compact SUVs. Starting at $23,485, the 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan is one of the most expensive affordable compact SUVs. “The 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan offers a different flavor in a vanilla class by trading some practicality for a top-notch cabin and European driving manners," says Edmunds.

Second, the Tiguan uses premium fuel and has one of the lowest fuel economy ratings in the class. If you can pass on the Tiguan’s sporty driving dynamics, German nameplate and meager cargo room, there are plenty of affordable compact SUVs that will meet your needs. The Honda CR-V surpasses the Tiguan when it comes to cargo space and utility.

Volkswagen has been making its version of the compact SUV, the Volkswagen Tiguan. For an affordable compact SUV, the Volkswagen Tiguan has always done well for itself despite its higher price point.

Pricing: Pricing for the 2011 Tiguan is expected to be $24,585, which will remain similar to the 2010 model pricing.

Engine: The 2011 engine will be a turbocharged 2.0 liter inline-4 cylinder with 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque.
Transmission: The front wheel drive is controlled by a six speed manual or a six speed automatic with Tiptronic.

Car Safety Features: The Volkswagen Tiguan scored a perfect five out of five stars in 2010 across all frontal and side collision impact tests. Warranty: 3-year/36,000 miles
The 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan handles extremely well.

The Volkswagen Tiguan interior offers rear seats which move both backwards and forward for a full six inches in either direction. When the back seats are completely folded down, the Volkswagen Tiguan offers a roomy cargo space, but this is still smaller for the compact SUV class. Like with many good vehicles, the 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan has both pros and cons as well.
