The new Elantra Coupe and Azera 2012
According to the latest reports from Automotive News, it appears that Hyundai will launch two new or redesigned models by January 2012. Moreover, the redesigned Azera large sedan will also go on sale next year, in January. Dave Zuchowski, Hyundai’s U.S. sales boss confirmed the fact that the 2012 Azera will be powered by an all-new 3.3-liter, gasoline, direct-injection V6 engine delivering about 260 horsepower.
This engine will be more fuel-efficient than current Azera--When speaking at a dealer meeting in San Francisco, Hyundai said that it would unveil two new models by January 2012. The Hyundai Elantra Coupe will be the first model launched and should arrive in dealerships this spring. The Elantra Coupe should be unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show or the New York Auto Show.
The Hyundai Azera will also be redesigned and should be here by January 2012. Hyundai is hoping to sell around 18,000 to 20,000 units of the new Azera, up from the depressing 3,051 units sold in 2010.
Following the Elantra, hyundai plans on introducing the redesigned Azera larges sedan in January 2012. The 2012 Hyundai Azera will be powered by a 3.3L V6 gasoline engine making 260-hp and will be more fuel-efficient than the current model.
Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, the Elantra returns an EPA rated 28/40 mpg (city/highway). The 40 mpg highway rating is 5 more mpgs than the outgoing Elantra model.
