2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon
Acura diversifies the TSX line by adding the 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon, which will appeal to shoppers looking for luxurious utility.
The 2011 Acura TSX hasn’t changed much for the 2011 model year, but 2011 does bring one surprise: the 2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon. The Sport Wagon is all about luxurious utility. Test drivers haven’t driven the Acura TSX Sport Wagon, but we do know it has the base sedan’s less powerful four-cylinder engine. The "Acura TSX" Sport Wagon may lack power, but Acura’s target audience -- small families who want to mesh luxury and utility -- should be pleased with this option.
Long before the controversial 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour was announced, we’d been asking Honda to bring us its sexy Euro-only Accord Tourer wagon. While little information has been released on the "Acura TSX Sport Wagon", Acura promises that the wagon will feature balanced performance, advanced technology, and bold styling. Translation: expect it to be slow and look just like the already-bold Accord Tourer (no surprise; the Euro Accord sedan is sold here as the TSX) with Acura’s beak-style grille, and likely housing the same 201-hp, 2.4-liter four-cylinder from the base sedan.
It’s a wagon that’s a few thousand cheaper than the TSX sedan. Pricing isn’t available for the TSX wagon, but it will likely cost more than $30,000 because wagons are usually more expensive than their sedan counterparts--The "2011 Acura TSX" is available as a sedan and Sport Wagon.
Wagons never went away, and our appetite for SUV-ish caricatures guarantees they're not making any big sales comeback. Up the 101, down the 101, curling around Lucas Valley Road and Nicasio Valley Road, the Acura TSX Sport Wagon didn't distance itself from the TSX sedan much at all. The Wagon's trim body comes from Europe, and on looks alone, it's the most pleasing Acura. It's a European, of course, and even if it's a Honda Accord sold over there, the TSX Sport Wagon lifts nicely with a form-first taper with almost Subaru slimness.
