2011 Chevrolet Camaro Reviews

Camaro comes just over the top of the Mustang with 312 horsepower in the six-pot entry model.

That's just enough to put the Camaro back at the top of the paper pile, though at 278 pound-feet of torque, the Camaro is still second fiddle to the Mustang's 280 pound-feet rating. “The 304 horsepower in the 2010 Camaro was actually a conservative rating on our end,” said Tom Sutter, GM V-6 chief engineer. Other key changes for the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro include the Synergy Green color to be offered on all models of the Camaro for a limited time, and GM's heads-up display will come standard on the higher-trim 2LT and 2SS models. Chevrolet will start rolling the "2011 Camaro" off the lineon June 7, 2010.

The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro ranks 2 out of 4 Muscle Cars. For 2011, Chevrolet ups the ante with performance figures that it believes are more reflective of the Camaro’s performance abilities and, even better, a gorgeous convertible body style. The Camaro was named Motor Trend's "Car of the Year" in 2010.

In addition to its drool-worthy exterior design, the 2011 Camaro features a powerful 312 horsepower V6 engine and highly competitive straight line performance. Like many muscle cars, the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro’s cabin is marred by subpar materials and limited visibility.

While some competitors' base trims provide muscle-car looks without muscle-car power, the V6 Camaro has both--The 2011 Chevrolet Camaro is largely a carryover from the 2010 model year. A high-performance Camaro SS trim is also available, but covered in a separate review.

The high-shouldered, cartoonish exterior, scorching performance, and muscle-car attitude carry over with all the force of before.
The 6.2-liter V-8 makes 426 hp with the six-speed manual (400 hp with the automatic), and in either case, the SS is a performance icon with tire-shredding power (and 0-60 in the 4.5-second range). Safety and convenience features aren't forgotten in the Camaro—even for the high-value base V-6 model. Although a screen-based navigation system isn't available, an OnStar navigation feature is offered; Bluetooth, a USB plug, and an iPod adapter are also available.
